Elroy-Sparta State Bike Trail
Website: http://www.travelwisconsin.com/linear-bike-trails/elroy-sparta-state-trail-203652
This is the granddaddy of them all! The Elroy-Sparta Trail was the first rails-to-trails conversion in the country and it is perennially one of the most popular bicycling destinations in the state. Located in one of the most scenic parts of Wisconsin, the trail is one of the few flat surfaces in a land of narrow valleys and steep wooded bluffs. The Headquarters for this trail is Kendall Depot. Three tunnels are a big part of the trail\'s appeal. The longest, between Sparta and Norwalk, is more than three-quarters of a mile long. Walking through the tunnels, (you can\'t ride them), is an adventure in itself. The small towns en-route all have a bike-friendly atmosphere; after all, the trail has made them famous.

La Crosse Queen Cruises
Website: http://www.lacrossequeen.com/
RIVERBOAT INFORMATION...
The La Crosse Queen is a modern-day replica of the grand river boats that plied the Mississippi River in the early 1900s. Cruising out of LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN, she is one of the few authentic Mississippi River paddlewheel river boats still in operation in the United States today. In keeping with early traditions, she was built with sternwheels that are her only means of propulsion.
The La Crosse Queen has a split sternwheel and each half is run by a twin diesel engine; these power hydraulic motors which turn the paddles. The split paddlewheel gives the Queen greater maneuverability and dependability. This is in contrast to most Mississippi River paddlewheelers in operation today that have a \"free wheeling\" paddlewheel at the stern of the boat for visual effect, but have traditional screw-type engines hidden for their real means of propulsion.
The La Crosse Queen is U.S. Coast Guard inspected for safety and is licensed to carry up to 149 passengers.
